This session marked round two with this crew — I first met Angie, Alan, and their daughter Bea during their maternity session in Roswell (shoutout to one of my clients, Alycia from Advocate Birth, for the referral). It’s always great reconnecting with families once the baby arrives, especially when you already have a sense of their rhythm.
Joia — brand new, tiny, and completely unbothered by the camera. She slept through the entire session, which, according to Angie and Alan, was unexpected after a rough night. Parents running on fumes, baby peacefully snoozing — classic newborn scenario.
Bea had been more reserved during the maternity shoot, but now that she’s a big sister — and familiar with me — she stepped right into the spotlight. Gold eyeshadow, big energy, and plenty of personality. Angie joked that the makeup was part of the toddler strategy — “whatever keeps her happy.” It worked. Before I left, Bea handed me a small drawing she’d made — probably the most on-brand toddler thank-you I’ve ever received.
Minnie, their first (fur)baby, had her own approach. She squeaked her way through half the session and had very specific ideas about where she should be in the frame. Confident, opinionated, and definitely not camera-shy — I made sure to document her just as she is.
Whether it’s your first baby or your fourth, these in-home newborn sessions are always a mix of unpredictability and quiet moments. If you’re looking for a newborn photographer in Atlanta who’s all about capturing things as they are — the calm, the chaos, and everything in between — let’s chat.
