When I walked in for this newborn session, Marlowe greeted me like no time had passed since our last shoot. She had plenty to share — including a full tour of the “work building” she made from magnetic tiles, where her mouse family goes to work (even the baby mouse had a job). She also showed me a quilt she was sewing — proudly announcing she learned it herself. I had a hunch Mom might’ve helped a little, but I let her have the win.
New baby Peter was wide awake for most of the session but couldn’t have been more relaxed. He was calm, content, and even started cooing a bit while sitting with Marlowe for their sibling photos. She was so proud to hold him and clearly taking her new role seriously — with a few giggles mixed in.
The whole family wore handmade headbands for part of the session, so of course we had to capture that. Marlowe is also learning Korean — something they’re intentionally keeping alive in their home as part of their family culture. It’s the kind of detail that may not be obvious in a photo, but it’s always in the background.
We wrapped the session outside in their front yard flower garden, which they’d planted together. Quiet, colorful, and uniquely theirs — the perfect ending to an easygoing in-home newborn session.
