I met up with Katherine, Matt, and their kids Ethan and Emma on a cooler day in Alpharetta — storms from a hurricane off the coast had been rolling through, but the rain held off and left us with perfect cloudy skies and soft light.

Emma and Ethan were more than happy to explore a new area. They spent most of the session running, playing, and doing exactly what kids should be doing during a family shoot: being themselves. Emma was especially into her rock collection, creating a little pocket in her shorts to store her finds as we walked.

It’s always fun photographing the Chartiers. They’re the kind of family that’s all about capturing the real stuff — kids being kids, enjoying the outdoors, no pressure to perform for the camera. That kind of energy always makes for the best sessions.
